Amir London's Biography
Amir London, has been active in the entertainment industry for the past twenty years – from his first television appearance at the age of six, to his recent run as Bijan Mortazavi’s live keyboardist, and as current host of the television series “Best of the Bay” (KRON 4) and “Best of LA” (KCAL 9).
Persian music was the soundtrack to London’s upbringing, who grew up with Iranian musicians as parents. His first internationally released song was an instrumental track titled “Royaa” (Dream) which he wrote at the age of six, and was featured on his mother Maryam’s 1992 CD entitled SHAGHAYEGH.
From age seventeen to twenty-four, he helped form and establish three credited rock bands in the San Francisco Bay Area. Each released a record independently, toured throughout California and established a sizable following. His last band, Eterni, released the critically acclaimed ”Abandon the New Age” which is available on iTunes.
Amir London moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 2007. It was in the midst of his two-year stay in southern california where he decided to pursue the next step in his musical journey, singing persian music with an emphases on American stylings, arrangements and in some cases, english lyrics.
In making “Yek Kalameh,” (London’s debut Persian record) Amir London set to create music that not only involved standard Iranian melodies (“Rojeh Lab” “Bia Bia”), but also push the boundaries by purposely blurring the lines between Iranian and American music (“Cuckoo,” “The One,” “Yek Kalameh”).
In the short time the album has been released (July 2009), Amir London has already accomplished the following, with no major label support…
- Release “Yek Kalameh” nationally through Best Buy and Bestbuy.com
- Headline artist at the 2009 Iranian Festival, 13 Bedar, at Vasona Park in Los Gatos
- Released three highly popular music videos (Rojeh Lab, Bia Bia and Montazer)
- Performed an opening slot for popular Iranian singer, Mansour, at Club Avalon in San Jose
- Record release party at Santana Row in San Jose, sponsored by Best Buy, Land Rover, Cocoa Jeans, and many others
- Performed at the world famous Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles
-And much more
For Iranian New Year (2010), Amir London had the opportunity to be interviewed on the Sarah and Vinnie show on Alice 97.3 as the featured artist, and performed his song “Rojeh Lab” in studio.
Amir London has also signed on as host of the bay area’s news magazine show, Best of the Bay, which airs Saturday and Sunday at 5:30 PM (PST) on KRON 4. London also hosts its sister show in Los Angeles titled “Best of LA” which airs Saturday at 10 AM and Sunday at 2 PM on KCAL 9.
